A series of screens, without audio. The screens show the experience of seeing the five step process for creating health resources, and then seeing the steps completed. The final screen congratulates the author for following best practice.

Background

NSW health needed a platform that enabled staff to create accessible health information for health consumers across NSW. The product needed to guide staff on best practices for health literacy and inclusive design, as well as creating an audit trail so that teams could report on their adherence to best practices.

The challenge

The users of the platform were from local health districts all over NSW, with varying degrees of experience in creating health resources. Each team had it’s own workflow and processes in place already. The challenge was to create a tool that made it easy for authors to adhere to best practices, without creating extra work for health staff who are already overworked.

What we did

  • Explored the as-is workflows for 4 different Districts across NSW, and produced to-be flow charts

  • Supported stakeholders with product planning and design principles

  • Conducted user testing on the pilot product to uncover feedback and needs

  • Co-designed the evidenced-based 5 step flow for authors to follow

  • Created wireframes and developed a product feature log

  • Prioritised features for a realistic MVP

  • Designed a prototype in Figma

  • Conducted co-design workshops with the teams to design with them. This ensured their needs and ideas were incorporated and also secured their buy-in

  • Documented future requirements plus ideas for future innovation

The result

The Hub team now has a refreshed platform that is best practice design and they have a clear roadmap of features that meet the needs of staff users from across the State. They also have a high likelihood of adoption by teams, stemming from co-design activities throughout the project.

It’s a nice clean design. All of the steps are clear
